OUR HISTORY
Every Chapter Shapes the Next.
Every business has a beginning.
Few continue to grow by staying true to the values that first defined them.
The story of MODE Group is one of steady growth, meaningful partnerships, and a willingness to evolve without losing sight of its foundations. Each chapter has expanded our perspective, strengthened our relationships, and shaped the business we continue to build today.

2026 Southeast AsiaOpened Forever Polynesia Bali
Carried our Pacific story beyond Australasia with our first retail presence in Southeast Asia.
Mode Fabrics started as a textile exporter, shipping into the Pacific Islands and across Australia and New Zealand. Those early trade routes and relationships became the foundation everything else was built on.
From there we moved into FMCG, partnering with Geneva Distributors to bring consumer goods into the same markets we already knew. Different product, same relationships, same trust.
Built One Relationship
at a Time.
Retail came next, in two places at once. Geneva Fabrics became our first direct-to-customer business, taking the textile side to market ourselves.
At the same time, Forever Polynesia Australia opened as our first move into fashion retail. Both started in Sydney, both shipping worldwide from day one.
Then came our second store, Forever Polynesia Bali, taking the same approach into a new market. Six companies now, each one built on top of what came before it.
Different products, but the same habit: don't take on a category unless you're willing to actually understand it first.
Every Stamp Tells a Story.
Behind every destination is a conversation.
Behind every conversation is a relationship.
Over the years, our journey has taken us across countries, industries, and cultures—each leaving a lasting impression on the way we do business today.
The Person Behind The Journey
A Legacy Continued.
D.K. Patel
FOUNDER
D.K. Patel began his career at a time when goods reached the Pacific Islands only if someone brought them there personally. He was among the first businessmen to import textiles and FMCG products into the region, and for many years he managed the work largely on his own.
He travelled between the islands by boat, carrying his own samples, meeting customers directly and negotiating his own terms. It was demanding and independent work, and it gave him a first-hand understanding of each market he served.
That direct contact shaped how he ran the business. His customers were, for the most part, family-run enterprises in small communities, where reputation carried considerable weight. He quoted fairly, was clear about what he could and could not deliver, and honoured what he committed to. He held that honesty was not simply good practice but the basis of any relationship worth keeping.
He regarded his customers as family, and maintained those relationships over decades rather than seasons. A number of them have since passed to the next generation on both sides.
The business grew steadily on that foundation, expanding from a small number of islands to a wide customer network across the Pacific.
As the company established itself, he turned to the question of succession, working alongside his grandson Divyesh over a considerable period.
Today the business operates under Divyesh's leadership, built on the foundation his grandfather established. At 96, D.K. Patel remains close to the company he founded.
Divyesh Patel
MODE GROUP CEO
Born in Fiji in 1973, Divyesh Patel's journey has been built on determination, community spirit, and entrepreneurial vision. After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), he developed a passion for both business and sport.
A dedicated football enthusiast, Divyesh played competitive soccer for over 40 years and earned the nickname "Diego", reflecting his love for the game and his commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
His entrepreneurial journey began with the establishment of Mode Fabrics, followed by Forever Polynesia, and has now evolved into the creation of Mode Group, bringing together a range of business ventures under one vision.
Guided by the motto given to him by his guru, "In the joys of others lies our own," Divyesh has always believed in supporting people, strengthening communities, and helping others wherever he can. His passion for his Fijian and island culture is also deeply personal. He has tattooed elements of his Fijian and island heritage on his hand, alongside the words "In the joys of others lies our own" — a daily reminder to do good, support others, and make a positive difference in the lives of those around him.
Today, through Geneva Ventures, he is expanding into Sydney, Australia, creating new opportunities for collaboration, partnerships, and business growth across the region.
From humble beginnings in Fiji to building successful enterprises across the Pacific and beyond, Divyesh's journey is a testament to perseverance, service, and innovation. And as he often says, the journey that began in Fiji in 1967 continues, with many exciting chapters still to be written.
The Principles That Guide Us.
INTEGRITY
We believe trust is earned through honesty, accountability, and doing what is right—even when no one is watching. Every decision begins with a commitment to act responsibly and transparently.
PARTNERSHIP
Meaningful relationships are built over time. We work alongside suppliers, customers, and business partners with mutual respect, shared ambition, and a long-term perspective.
STEWARDSHIP
Every business carries a responsibility to those it serves and to the generations that follow. We approach growth with care, balancing today's opportunities with tomorrow's possibilities.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
Whether sourcing textiles, building brands, or strengthening distribution networks, we believe excellence is found in thoughtful execution and attention to every detail.
ADAPTABILITY
Markets evolve, consumer expectations shift, and industries transform. We embrace change with curiosity and resilience, continually adapting while staying true to the principles that define who we are.
LONG-TERM THINKING
We make decisions with the future in mind. By focusing on sustainable relationships rather than short-term gains, we continue to build businesses designed to endure.
